We’ll be in CLOVER in April
This bud is for Kate–she suggested the design as for a lotto block and I loved it.
Because of the similarities to the more complex, traditional block, The Clover Blossom, I’m calling it Modern Clover. The directions for making this 6 inch (finished size) block are here:
For each block, you’ll need cream background, green leaves and stem and a blossom fabric in the color of your choice in two values (lighter and darker).
• CREAM – may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print—usually these are white designs printed on cream—or cream printed with other color(s) which is predominately cream and will “read as cream” if you are looking at your block from across the room. You don’t have to use the same cream fabric in both leaf units, but, if you want, you may use the same cream fabric for the leaf (and stem) units for ALL your lotto blocks.
• GREEN – also may be solid, a TOT print or a multicolor print that “reads as green.” You don’t have to use the same green fabric for both leaves, but if you want, you may use the same green fabric for the leaves (and stems) for ALL your blocks.
• BlOSSOM – both halves of the blossom unit should read as the same color, one lighter than the other. They may be any color except green or cream/tan. Blossom fabrics may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a multicolor print that “reads as” your chosen color. Because HSTs are often made in pairs, you may repeat a 2-fabric combination in 2 blocks.
For April, you may may enter a maximum of 10 blocks (again, because HST units are often made in pairs). You may use the same cream background and green leaf/stem fabric for all your blocks, but can only use a specific light-dark blossom fabric pair in a pair of blocks. For the maximum of 10, you’ll need to use 5 unique light-dark pairs for the blossoms.
