Finally had a chance to make a block for the Lotto. Unfortunately I failed to read the color directions because I was struggling so much with the paper piecing, so just grabbed some scraps in my sewing room (I used red but do not have a white-backed fabric.). I’m donating this anyway, so Sophie you can add this to the winner if they want it. I think it is in the “spirit” of the block. I’ll “read twice, cut once” in the future! This isn’t my first paper piecing, but I did have to rip out a lot; working “backwards” just confuses me for some reason. I used traditional turned under applique; I just cut out the paper pattern and used running stitches to pull up the extra, and then the school glue to glue down the edges; after hand applique, I cut from back and removed the paper.
