Quilt top of May Rail Variations blocks

Quilt top of May Rail Variations blocks

Hi everyone! Here is my finished quilt top of our May Rail Fence Variations blocks.  I had intended for the zig-zags to go lengthwise down the quilt, but accidentally laid them out this horizontal orientation at first, and decided I liked it more than the vertical set.   Anyway, I now need to find a back for this, and get quilting! Many thanks to the ladies who sent all these pretty blocks to use! One question for the group- if/when you enter...

Terms of Endearment blocks February 2010

Terms of Endearment blocks February 2010

I have just finished this top, ready to send to the long armer.  The words forming the border are Block Lotto blocks from the “Terms of Endearment” blocks circa February 2011, which I was lucky to win.  Thanks to all who made one or more of these blocks.  They’re amazing.  The heart in the center is a pattern from Michelle Watts, a quilt designer who lives in New Mexico. This quilt will become part of my grandmother...

Dutchman’s Puzzle Finish

Dutchman’s Puzzle Finish

This Block Lotto win from February 2017 has been on my WIP list for a very long time. I worked on it immediately,  finished the flimsy by the end of May, and sent it off to my long arm quilter along with 5 others. It was the last one in line and she found that my special, super great fabric backing was too small. Not just a little bit either, it lacked 6 inches in width and 15 inches in length. What was I smoking when I prepared that?? Of...

Easy X Blocks from November 2014

Easy X Blocks from November 2014

I’ve had this top made for quite a while but have only recently been able to quilt and finish it. These are the Easy X blocks I won in November 2014. I based the layout on a quilt I came across on Pinterest….Just Kisses on Robert Kaufman’s site. This was my first time trying a Full Line Stencil and Pounce Pad. The stencil name is “Overall Swirl”....

Orphan Blocks Quilt

Orphan Blocks Quilt

Years ago we had a drawing for orphan lotto blocks. Blocks that were rejected for because of color, size, just not right. I won a batch. This is hanging at our local quilt show this year. I finally finished it. Sometimes I left them as is and added framing. Other times I cut added to them. It was fun to put...

Another quilt from a 2014 block

Another quilt from a 2014 block

A Snowball’s Chance I didn’t win these blocks. I used a 2014 Block Lotto pattern called Spokes.  I called my blocks snowflakes because I made them from snowflake fabric scraps. I included a big giant snowball too. Machine quilted, hand quilted, tied. Label says: “A Snowball’s Chance Despite the odds I believe some snowballs could survive a trip through hell. I believe in miracles too.” More on today’s...

Strip quilt finished at last

Strip quilt finished at last

I don’t remember when I won these strip blocks but each block is 6.5 inches and had to include one “made strip” in the block. Can you find your block?  I used them all and had to make four extra to get to my needed number. I wanted a larger quilt so I made 6.5 inch blocks of yellow and white to go in between the strip blocks.  While laying the blocks out on the design wall at Elizabeth’s house, Elizabeth’s sharp...

Baby quilt from old blocks

Baby quilt from old blocks

We did these blocks years ago, I don’t remember when. I didn’t win, but remember loving the quilts the winners made so I do remember making more and then I forgot about them. I found the stack recently and decided they would make a good baby quilt. It will go to my young cousin who is having a baby...
