Wonky Village

Wonky Village

I wanted to give you all a progress report on my wonky houses.  I’ve created a wonky village.  I added some trees to the batch to offset the houses some.  Then I went looking for a green that was on the bluish side for the grass to compliment the turquoise skies and dark enough to anchor the rows. Then I used “stepping stones” to add the names of all the people who contributed to this quilt.  Since one of the requirements of...

Cory’s Baby Stacks Quilt top

Cory’s Baby Stacks Quilt top

I also made a Stacks top for a quilt for a preemy baby at the hospital. It is a great way to use 2 1/2″ binding strips left from quilts made in the past. I used some pieces left from the lotto blocks and added a few fun pieces from my stash. I showed the lotto blocks to a friend and she too is making a top for a quilt to go to the hospital. Its a great easy block to use up bits of your stash. Thanks...

A wonderful quilt … and a reminder about today’s deadline

A wonderful quilt … and a reminder about today’s deadline

I had to share Mary’s wonderful quilt, Wonky Town.  You can read more about it (and her adventures in letter-making) on her blog, Quilts for Fun and Giving.  I love that the Block Lotto not only provides some of us with a chance to make and win blocks each month, but also inspires others–Mary mentioned on the Yahoo group Lib-quilters that we inspired her . . . and I think her quilt could definitely inspire some setting ideas for one...

Completed Quilter’s Choice from June 2009

Completed Quilter’s Choice from June 2009

I’m happy to be able to finally post my completed quilt from blocks I won in June 2009. It was a Quilter’s Choice in 1930s reproductions. I found a striped fabric that I thought would be good for the multicolored blocks, and then used orange/white quarter square triangles for the setting squares. It is such a cheerful quilt. Thanks to everyone who participated that month and every month. And, as always, thanks to our leader Sophie...

Another Lotto Inspired Quilt

Another Lotto Inspired Quilt

Mary–who recently rejoined the Block Lotto–emailed these photos to me just before my move . . . and I realized this morning, I never posted them.  (Sorry, Mary.) She made Watermill blocks for the lotto in September 2005.  She didn’t win, but because her mother loved the blocks, she made some duplicates and others and put together this quilt I know I sound like a broken record when I say that if you didn’t win blocks you wanted, you...

Mary’s Quilt – Inspired by this month’s Lotto Block

Mary’s Quilt – Inspired by this month’s Lotto Block

Mary started making blocks for the lotto . . . and 42 blocks later, ended up making this quilt top.  You can read about it on her blog, Quilting for Fun and Giving. She may still decide to join us this month, but if not this month . . . maybe next time 😉 Ps.  In case you’re wondering how I’m posting with no DSL . . . I live a block away from the Library and can often pick up their free WiFi signal.   But I really ought to be...

Tic Tac Toe – January winnings progress

Tic Tac Toe – January winnings progress

Sorry for the poor picture, but I’m very excited – this is the nearly completed flimsy of my January 2010 Tic Tac Toe winnings. There’s just one row of 7 purple blocks not yet set with sashing/cornerstones to add to one end. Don’t look too closely – the cornerstones don’t match. But that’s fine with me. Once the last row is on, it makes it 7 blocks by 9 – but actually it needs to be 9 blocks by 9...

Rho’s Finished Quilt from Polka Dot Blocks

Rho’s Finished Quilt from Polka Dot Blocks

There’s a “firewall” between Rho and the blog right now, but she wanted to share the “final” photos of her quilt made from her December 2009 lotto winnings . . .  so she emailed me these photos.  She wrote: I wanted to show these “final” pics of my block lotto winnings to everyone.  I’ve have it quilted now, and it’s on it’s way to my sister for it’s final rest, or home I should...

Reeds

Reeds

Hello group!  You once again inspired me to make up a quick quilt!  I just finished my “Reeds” quilt.  I put in a thin black flange between my blocks and inner border and added a few ladybug friends crawling on some of the blades! Thanks for the fun ideas for blocks!...

Spools

Spools

Here’s what I put together with my winnings of the spool blocks. I’ve had the inner part of the top done for months, but wasn’t sure what to do for borders. I looked through my stash this morning and added the narrow green border and the outer border. Now to find backing fabric and get it quilted. The picture doesn’t do it justice but you get the idea....
