As long as I’m being efficient and getting all my accumulated blocks made up into tops, etc, here’s something I finished today – the top with the red and white blocks I won from March’s lotto. This is probably a record for me in terms of the short length of time it took me from receiving the last set of blocks to assembling them into a top… Of course, it will be quite a while before the top is quilted, because it’s quite big, so will need to go to the longarmer, and as I am not made of money (darn) I only send one every few months – there are a couple on the list before this one gets a turn…
After playing around with the blocks literally and in my head for a while, I decided to listen to them – they’d been telling me they wanted to be set on point. Since I happened to have quite a good amount of white fabric in my stash, I went ahead and did it. Annoyingly, the blocks were right – they DID obviously want to be set on point. I have to say, I love the mix of reds – they look great together, and look even better when there’s a little more light – I forgot to take a photo of this before dinner when it was still sunny, so this was taken about 9pm, when the light was starting to go. It’s going to (eventually) be a nice quilt, though as it won’t match anything in my house, I’ve no idea what I’m going to do with it!

I won these wonky Reeds last summer, and finally pulled them out of the UFO pile. I kept the darkest backgrounds at the bottom, and they fade to the white at the top. I hope to have a completed quilt soon!

I want to thank everyone who sent me blocks. I love them! The picture doesn’t have all of them in it, but a good many of them that I had received so far. Some of my off ones are in there too.
What I am going to do is…..
Put a quote about geocaching in it. The blocks and caching are international!
It will read something like….
geocaching: using multi-million dollar satellites to find tupperware in the woods
So far I have my name done!! Julie P

The final blocks arrived today. Thanks to Sophie and June for their wonderful blocks.
As I had a day off work and was already sewing I decided to put them together this afternoon. The colours certainly look vibrant – I love them. I am looking at edging them with the blue and green fabrics pictured. This will have to wait though as I am back at work tomorrw and I will have to buy more of the blue fabric or something similar.

Not sure you’ll be hugely interested, but I’ve sewn on the side sashing and ordered the blocks into something I like. There’s 4 ‘holes’ as I need another 4 blocks and I can’t decide whether to make them coloured background with white hashes or not. I’ve not done the rest of the sashing as I can’t decide whether to have handdyed coloured cornerstones. Decisions, decisions!

I put this together today.
The top is Doll quilt-sized, only 18 by 24 inches. Almost none of the blocks are square, nor are all of them the same size, but they’re all between 3 and 4 inches. You can read more about it, here: Waste Not, Want Not.
I wanted to try a strippy setting. I can imagine our much bigger blocks being set like this, probably with wider vertical panels, maybe in an interesting flower print?

It’s almost a done UFO! I put on the coral colored side and corner triangles today and it’s aprox. 60″ x 80″. I just can’t decide if I’ll make it bigger. But I’m happy with the results so far – –

I can’t believe that I’m working (right now) on my most recent winnings! It’s not like I don’t have at least 20 UFO’s already! I’m setting these blocks on point. Do you see your block(s)?
