Silly String Question

Posted by on July 4, 2012 in block lotto community | 10 comments

I sat out last month due to a really hectic month! But I love this month’s block andI have to join in.

I have a general question concerning finding the block instructions each month. When I signed in a couple of times in june with the intention of making one or two schoolhouses, I happeded upon the instructions quite by accident and the other time I never found them again.

Is there an easy way to get to the instructions for each month? WordPress is not my usual blog venue and I am still learning how to maneuver in it.

glen: like going back and finding the list of tags………I guess I need to paste it to my door.

  1. I found them by going to the first blog of each month under the tag blocks. I have all the links in a document if you need them. So you don’t have to search for it, here is the link for July: http://www.blocklotto.com/2012/07/silly-string-blocks-for-july

  2. I have to add….I had help finding the links from a post I made last week. I can’t take all the credit.

  3. Usually, Sophie puts the instructions (or link to them) under “at a glance” tab at the top of the blog. But it looks like this month isn’t done yet – I know things have been busy for her. Until that goes up, I do what Helen did – look for the first post of the month.

  4. Usually if you click the “At a Glance” tab at the top of the blog it will take you where you need to be. Sophie is in the moving process right now and it will get caught up when she is settled. That is why the schoolhouse block is still showing. It also tells you there how that month’s block should be tagged.

In the meantime, the method that Helen used will have to do.

    • I’ve left the June At-a-Glance information up a bit long because: 1. I wanted to give everyone a chance to check the list to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes when I did the massive update at the end of June, and 2. Because I wanted to wait until I wrapped up June before I blew it away. I’ve recently heard from our replacement winner, Debra, and should be wrapping up June and sending out the mailing info to everyone tonight and updating the at-a-glance page with the July info.

The announcement post each month is always posted on the first of the month. If you search for the word guidelines, you may find other posts, but the announcement posts will also be in the search results.

  5. Ps. Maybe I need to post a refresher on how to navigate the site? Do you know what you’ll find on each of the pages: Home, Blog, At-a-Glance, Block Patterns, Gallery, Help?

  6. LOL. I never meant to rush Sophie, this was truly a question I have struggled with the last two or three months. I have played around with the site, but since it is the only blog I use in WordPress, I am just not that well versed in it.

Thanks for all the comments and I do appreciate the advice and insight.

    • No worries. Everyone can use a little push now and then 😉

  7. Where are the tags listed?? I can’t find them to narrow down my searches.

  8. I’m still not sure the question has been answered. Here’s the deal (for me): I’ve mailed out my schoolhouse blocks today, so I came to do my “mailed” post. However, it has been over a month since the guidelines post for the schoolhouses – and sometimes I forget the categories and tags for a specific block. Just typing in school… gets me three different tags related to schoolhouses – one I’m sure is the one Sophie intended for us to use and the other two were added by someone who didn’t read the original instructions. I want to use the correct one, so I need to find the original schoolhouse post. Searching “schoolhouse guidelines” gave me “no posts match your criteria.” Searching “schoolhouse” gave me all the posts for that block, and all I can do is wade back through time one page at a time until I find that original post. It took going back five pages to finally get to the right one. Now I know that “schoolhouse” is the correct tag, and “sent and received” is the correct category. This takes me back to the original question – is there a simpler way to find the original guidelines for the month’s block? Am I missing something here? Thanks!
