November Block: Nine Patch Stars

Posted by on November 1, 2018 in blocks | 2 comments

I’m always alert to interesting ways to use nine-patch blocks.  For many years I participated in a quarterly swap of 3.5″ nine-patches. The swap has ended but I am not bereft– I have a box with several hundred of the little gems.

This month’s block features 3.5″ nine-patches (two fabrics, dark corners). If you have a few on hand you can use them; if not, they’re quick to make. Dig into your scrap bin and have fun!

Here’s the PDF with all the details. Nine Patch Star BLOCK LOTTO November

(Thanks to Cathy L. and Cathy K. for reviewing the instructions.)

  1. Lots of options for appearance in the ones you’ve shown. =)

  2. IMPORTANT RE-RE-CORRECTION. Thanks to Cathy L. for measuring MOST carefully. If the FINISHED block is 6-3/8″ (which it is) then adding 1/4″ seam allowance on each side makes it 6-5/8 unfinished. I am using the pattern from McCall’s Quilting, May/June 2018.
