February Update – Mod-Mod Quilt-Along
This month, we add Bead-on-a-String blocks to our quilts.
(For those who are still sitting on the fence, I’ve included last month’s Double Chevron Blocks, too. )
|Double Chevron Blocks||1||2||3||4||6||8|
You will notice in the layouts that these blocks often appear three-in-a-row in the quilts, but sometimes appear on their own.
Because the only guidelines for the blocks for your quilts are the ones you impose on yourself, you might decide to:
- make beads from one fabric
- make the string from the same fabric as the background for a different looking block
- rotate the blocks, so they aren’t arranges as beads beads on a string, but more abstract shapes.
Here are the quilt layouts for each size, with the bead blocks revealed.
|Small (42-inch square)

|Crib (42 by 63-inch rectangle)6 modules arranged 2 (wide) by 3 (high)|

I am going to keep this update short and sweet for those who like to print things. I’ll share the progress with my two Mod-mod quilts in a separate message.
