You’ll be Seeing RED in August

You’ll be Seeing RED in August

In August, we are making another long rectangle block that I’m calling Many Triangles from scrappy reds mixed with cream or low volume print fabrics.  These blocks are 5 by 18 1/2 inches (to finish at 4 1/2 by 18 inches).     Ginny made this one. The fabric guidelines and my directions for making this block can be found here: Many Triangles Quilt Block Pattern The pattern includes directions for making your own templates, but...

July Winners Are …

July Winners Are …

This month, we made a total of 68 blocks, which felt like too many for one person, so the set size will be a little smaller and we have two winners, who will each receive 34 blocks.   Random.Org generated the two lucky numbers 27 and 41, which translate to: Maree Peggy Congratulations, Ladies!  Look for email from me today to confirm your mailing addresses and ask how many of your own blocks you’d like to...

I had the best intentions … and a reminder

I had the best intentions … and a reminder

First the reminder – the drawing happens in approximately an hour from now. Now the best intentions excuses. I was really looking forward to producing a menagerie of blocks, inspired by the animals that have passed through my life: a pair of parakeets, three dogs, a couple of lizards and five cats … I am sure there were some fish, too.   But life happened.  My disastrous move happened.  My excitement, then disappointment of a...

Thinking About … Samplers

Thinking About … Samplers

I still haven’t discovered the critical sewing room box (with scissors, needles, rulers …) so, at the moment, I can only think about quilting.  When I noticed the bundle of fabric I put aside to make a row quilt from this year’s lotto blocks in one of the boxes that wasn’t the critical box I was looking for, I started telling myself, it’s not too late to start a sampler quilt … now I am telling you. If you...

More 9-Patch Plaid Blocks on the Way

I was so afraid of misplacing last month’s blocks in my move that I have been walking around with them, tucked in an envelope, in my purse for 3 weeks … I finally addressed the envelope and sent them on their way today. If you haven’t yet mailed your June blocks, please do get them in the mail this week.

Good News … Bad News

The good news is that I am moved and my internet works.  So, as I am unpacking and trying to find a place for everything in this (much) smaller house, I can start catching up with all the great cats and fish and dogs everyone has been making. The bad news is that mover was a disaster … so bad that I called the police when he became physically threatening and, because he took off with all three of my TVs (I know, I know, I probably watch...

Mailing Info for June Blocks

I have just sent out the mailing info to everyone who made and posted blocks in June. A couple things are different this month: If you made more than 4 blocks, you will be mailing to multiple winners.  Be sure to send equal numbers of blue-corner and white-corner blocks to each winner. You can send matched pairs (made from the same fabrics) or mix them up for a more scrappy mix, but be sure you send pairs of 1 block with white corners + 1 block...

You may make a maximum of 9 blocks for chances in the drawing at the end of the month. The target set size for the winners will be 48 blocks. If you make multiple block pairs, you can use the same background for all your blocks and you can use the same block pattern in up to three of your blocks,...
