Old MacDonald Flimsy Finished

Posted by on January 2, 2017 in my sampler, show and tell | 11 comments

I have not made any January hearts yet, but I did finish my top using the 2016 blocks and Sophie’s Old MacDonald design. My changes included different butterflies, different spiky leaves and extra chickens and chicks … I really enjoyed making those birds, and didn’t submit any for the lotto because I wanted to keep them all. Thanks, Sophie for the cute design and a great year of blocks!

  1. Beautiful!

  2. i Love it!

  3. Love it too. You have motivated me to get back to stitching these blocks. I did a bit more of the barn blocks today.

  4. Well done, Wendy, it looks great! I faded out in the middle of the year, but sure would like to complete this quilt someday. I like that you used some extra chickens, too.

  5. That’s so adorable. What a terrific quilt it made.

  6. Wow, Wendy! This turned out just gorgeous! LOVE all of it. Great work.

  7. ooohhhh can you please show me where to get the directions for your orange butterflies? please and thanks!

    • Since I wasn’t in the mood to paper piece the butterflies, I used google to find a butterfly block that used squares, rectangles and 1/2 square triangles. I figured out the dimensions from this picture: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/377598749978066042/ to make a 6″ block … the big 1/2 square triangles finish at 3″, the smaller ones at 1.5″ and I made the little squares finish at 3/4″.

  8. That looks great! Such a fun pattern. How will you quilt it?

    • Still thinking about my quilting plan, since it is so busy, I might just go with an allover design. Thanks for looking!

  9. Beautiful work! Congratulations on getting it all together so wonderfully.
