Oh, I figured out how to simplify making these blocks so as not to have to use little squares!
Instead of squares and interior rectangles, cut a 1 1/2″ X 6″ baclgrpimd strip for the top top to replace the individual squares, a 3 1/2″ x 5″ contrast strip for the inner bars and then a 2 1/2″ x 6″ background strip background for bottom smaller rectangles portion of the block.
Sew together into a stripset, press and subcut into 1 1’2″ strips.
Arrange the resulting 4 pieced stripsets per the photo instructions and then add the outer long background strips.

The word should be “background” …G! It is so hard to see what I’ve typed as it reads light gray on white till the reply is posted when it becomes the normal Black type ..
