Strip quilt finished at last
I don’t remember when I won these strip blocks but each block is 6.5 inches and had to include one “made strip” in the block. Can you find your block? I used them all and had to make four extra to get to my needed number. I wanted a larger quilt so I made 6.5 inch blocks of yellow and white to go in between the strip blocks. While laying the blocks out on the design wall at Elizabeth’s house, Elizabeth’s sharp...

You might have noticed that two points on one of my April blocks were trimmed off when I squared the blocks. I decided I couldn’t send them to anyone that way, and so, I removed those two squares and replaced them with new ones; so no more blunted points! It was a pretty painless repair done while sewing at Elizabeth’s house one afternoon last week.

These were fun to make. I agree, make your blocks a bit larger and cut them down to 9.5. I also tried to limit the colors and prints in each square so as to make them more...

Julie Post is that your barn quilt in the recent (September) AQ Magazine? If so, I LOVE IT and wondered if the group of barn quilts will be traveling, to maybe the AQS show in Grand Rapids, MI? I would so love to see these quilts in person. The piecing is extraordinary, the barns whimsical and the quilting wonderfully appropriate.
