Adding Woven Bars to the Mod-Mod Sample Quilts

Adding Woven Bars to the Mod-Mod Sample Quilts

I have a plan for this month’s Friday Night Sew-in: to catch up with the blocks for at least one of my own Mod-Mod quilts. It’s never too late to catch up … or decide to jump in.  I really love all the quilts that have been shared here and can’t wait to see them finished (mine, too!)     How Many Blocks Here’s the updated chart how many blocks we made so far in the Block Lotto that you’ll need to...

There’s something about the October Blocks

There’s something about the October Blocks

As I was making this month’s blocks and putting together the directions, I started thinking about using it for the rainbow scraps challenge next year, in a color way similar to the one we’re using, except the gold/orange would be replaced by the color of the month and combined with neutrals.  I might make my blocks a little smaller, 5 by 10 inches each, so I could use up smaller scraps. Then I thought about LAST year’s October...

Rho’s Block

Rho’s Block

Rhos is having problems posting, so I’m posting her block for her while we figure it out.   She’s using an android device, so if anyone has experience with that and suggestions for Rho, please add a comment. I don’t have access to any Android phones/tablets to try it...

Color Guidelines Clarification

Color Guidelines Clarification

I’ve seen a couple blocks that seem to be going beyond the color guidelines provided during the sneak peek and both in the downloadable directions and the October 1 blog post.  Before our controlled color-way gets any more out of hand, I want to restate them and tell you what is within the guidelines and … what is not. In the directions, I refer to: LONG bar – this is the bar that is oriented along the long length of the...

Sophie’s Woven Bars (Officially)

Sophie’s Woven Bars (Officially)

Here are my two blocks (one more time) and the happy color coincidence on my design wall.  The tea towel on the left was a gift from Charlene (thanks, again!)  If I was having doubts about the colors I chose for us this month–and I was, a little–seeing them in that cute tea towel convinced me they were going to work.   Life continues to be crazy busy for me, while, at the same time, I just can’t seem to stay healthy …...

… And the Lucky Winner is …

We made 71 blocks this month, not quite enough for two quilters to share, so the lucky winner is: KATHLEEN! Sorry for the delay.  I haven’t even been thinking about getting a flu shot yet this year and … I ended up with the flu.  I’ve hardly out of bed for the past few days.   I will get the post with the October information up later tonight (if I can manage to stay upright) … but, in the meantime, for those that...

September 2014 Recap

In September, 26 quilters made 71 Sweet Dreams blocks.   Kathleen won them all. Congratulations, Kathleen! Sweet Dreams is a 7-inch (finished size) square block from Quilter’s Cache which features paper foundation piecing and appliqué.  We made the block in a controlled scrappy color way using four fabrics, two with color rules and two that are the quilter’s choice. Julie P made this one. Complete guidelines for this month are here:...

The Sneak Peek has (FINALLY) been sent

If you have made and posted Sweet Dreams blocks this month, you should have email from me with the information for the October block. Add to this three more fabrics, described below, in any placement you choose. GRAY – it may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print, a gray print which...

The October Sneak Peek is … Coming

It has been a perfect storm of personal and professional deadlines at my house, plus I’m struggling with allergies and a new opportunity popped up and is in the mix … with the result that I haven’t yet written up the directions for the October block and sent out the sneak peek.   Sometimes I just get overwhelmed with the pile of work before me and, for me, it can be paralyzing … then nothing gets done and I am even more...
