Another way to make the Woven Bars Block

When I first read Sophie’s instructions to make this block I could see another way to construct it. So I did a little calculating and cut my fabrics, then took some photos as I went along to show how I constructed it. And it does work. I was pretty sure that Sophie had probably already thought of this and when I emailed it to her, she confirmed my suspicion. Though she couldn’t recall why she decided to go with the method she chose. I’ve only had time to do “Block A.” And I’ve only done it “my way.” So I can’t compare the two methods. I’m not sure I’ll have time this month to do another one. But Sophie said it was ok to post my method and see what others thought. Woven bars Quilt Block A

So below is the one block for me this month. If anyone wants to give it a try and give us a comparison of the two methods that’d be great!

  1. Another one of those things I’m always saying is that one of the things I love about quilting is that there never is just one way to do something. Thanks for sharing your directions.

  2. I love that we have such talented, curious people in this group! Thanks for sharing!
