2 Feb. blocks

Is it wrong to make orphans just to make another block?  The Sandy Gervais fabric started as a 6.5″ Jane block.  I like the X even though I thought it would look more like a butterfly.  The other is fabric my Mom gave me with some Sandy Grevais scrap bag fabric and I had to make the b/w 4 patch to get an orphan.  Well, the b/w strip was a leftover.  I tend to just cut what I need.  This is going to make a very fun quilt.  Good luck...

Remember zigzag blocks?

I finally found a project for the zigzag blocks.  The Minnesota Quilters President’s Challenge this year is a twin quilt for a program that helps homeless youth, many who have aged out of the foster system, develop their skills.  Each young adult gets an apartment and can select basics such as dishes, pans, bedding, etc.  Hand made items are a big hit.  Often kids can’t believe that someone cared enough to make them something.  The quilt and household items stay with the kids when they ‘graduate’ the program....
