Birds #2 or Block Lotto Revisited

Birds #2 or Block Lotto Revisited

The rest of my tall birds have been on my design wall for awhile.  I had made the center panel, arranged the birds (including the” twin”s in the lower right, one by me and one sent by Glenna), and even printed the Bible verses that are included, but still had a lot of space to fill.  Now around my design wall there is a set of block lotto blocks, one for each month, that I have been making and saving for a sampler.  I took some of...

Nifty Thrifties – A UFO Finish !

Nifty Thrifties – A UFO Finish !

In 2009, shortly after the Thrifty Block was released, I swapped blocks with members of a Yahoo Group no longer in existence.  I’ve had them laying around in a box ever since.  My backing fabric was not big enough so I added a few Violet blocks (another block lotto block) I swapped with members of another Yahoo Group. Quilt measures 72×90.   I love it and I’m glad I finished another UFO but I still have miles to go!...

Tall birds quilt done

Tall birds quilt done

Just sharing my tall birds quilt with everybody.  I used at least one block from everybody, and there is a label on the back that tells where they all came from.  I have a few blocks left, which I am already planning to use in a second quilt.  Thanks Sophie, for making this possible, and to everybody who sent these fun blocks to...

Modern Clovers – a finished quilt

Modern Clovers – a finished quilt

I’ve been playing the block lotto for a long time, and have even had a good share of wins through the years.  I’ve enjoyed all the blocks I’ve won on the lotto, but these ones in particular were great fun to win, as I designed the block. For those of you who have come to the lotto recently and are thinking that these don’t look familiar, I won them back in May 2011, so yes, they’ve been around for a while. I put...

String Heart Wall Hanging

String Heart Wall Hanging

This wall hanging was made from the left over triangles from the scrappy string hearts we made at least two years ago.  My daughter has this hanging in her hallway – she loves red and hearts. Last month was the first month since I joined block lotto over three years ago that I haven’t managed to make any blocks – too many other projects on the go at the moment.  Hopefully I will manage some blocks this month as I really like...

Blocks being mailed today, houses are a top

Blocks being mailed today, houses are a top

I am mailing star blocks to Linda, Sharon, and Mary Jane when I head to town this afternoon for errands and my guild meeting. My husband came through his surgery just fine and went back to work last week. We had a round of stomach virus in the house and on Sept. 6 my brother got married…I quilted the quilt my Mom made for them. On Labor Day I decided to get some of the I-Spy house blocks I won into a quilt top. I will be getting it...

Red in the Garden

Red in the Garden

I made a boomer block and the dimensions of a section did not come out right. In order for it to not become an orphan block, I decided to create a placemat or table topper.  I gave her red hair (I’ve always wanted red hair – LOL).  Then I attached her to a piece of fabric I had made.  I’m calling this Red in the Garden. It measures about 13 x...
