Blocks being mailed today, houses are a top

Blocks being mailed today, houses are a top

I am mailing star blocks to Linda, Sharon, and Mary Jane when I head to town this afternoon for errands and my guild meeting. My husband came through his surgery just fine and went back to work last week. We had a round of stomach virus in the house and on Sept. 6 my brother got married…I quilted the quilt my Mom made for them. On Labor Day I decided to get some of the I-Spy house blocks I won into a quilt top. I will be getting it...

Blocks received and life is crazy!

Did I remember to post my 9 blocks after the block was announced? I must have since the picture is in the gallery. I have received all but on of my House Block squishies, but I cannot say whose, because my list is at home and I am sitting in my husband’s hospital room. It has been quite a month. First my newlywed daughter was unable to get permission join her husband in Okinawa after their May 4 wedding. They had 4 days together before he...

Sewing room recovery project….

Sewing room recovery project….

My sewing room has gotten out of control and I finally started to clean it up, at least the quilting fabric part of it. In the process of refolding, stacking and sorting yardage and scraps, I came across the remainder of the Wonky Churn Dash blocks I had won….when?… Anyway with one cabinet full of neatly folded and stacked fabric, and smaller pieces sorted into bins, one with long pieces that result from the excess backing needed to...

I’m Back….

I’m Back….

Another wedding is past. Wedding quilt form my daughter who married last year was finished just a bit past their 1st anniversary, but I did have to make a baby quilt for their honeymoon baby, Patrick who is now 5 months old. Life has calmed down a bit and I hope to get back into lotto blocks and making more quilts. I am also trying to get a long arm quilting business started, but I do want to still make time for piecing.

No Blocks This Month For Me, But I Finished a Top!

No Blocks This Month For Me, But I Finished a Top!

I really do like this month’s block but life has been way too complicated to get any done.  Christmas sewing….I put it off too long…started Saturday (!!!).  I had on my list a quit for my grand nephew, Remi, the cutest ringbearer that ever was.  Remi just turned 5 and loves Thomas the Train (and anything train), so when I saw 2 FQ stacks of Thomas and Friends fabric on clearance this summer, I bought them.  I decided the...

I really had hoped…

…to get some coffee cups made.  I have been enjoying seeing what everyone has done.  But on my birthday, as I was almost finished with the quilt top I had decided to make earlier in the day, my sewing machine quit.  Whirring but no needle movement.  Broken belt!  Monday I put her in the hospital and I don’t know how long it will be.  Belt had to be ordered.  I’m afraid once I get her back I  have too many projects that need to...

Always do a test block….

….. before cutting all your fabric! I am not happy with how my blocks are turning out.  Why do 1/2 square triangles and flying geese always turn out crooked for me…unless I sew large and trim to size?  I’m not sure if I will have any that are up to par for the lotto.  Maybe I’ll try again later in the month.

I went looking for some fabric to bind a quilt yesterday and what did I fine sitting on the shelf?  My 3-D flowers….I forgot to get them ready and mail them last week when I was in town almost daily.  Now plans for this week to mostly just stay home.  But I pckaged then up and set them on top of my purse so when I do go out I won’t forget them.  My Chiropractor’s office called and said he already had my MRI report back (just...
