Little Windows in Cat Houses

Little Windows in Cat Houses

I’ve made some Little Windows blocks with cats in the windows. Then I made some Cat Houses. 63 x 80 I hand stitched around the windows and then machine quilted stars in the night sky in glow-in-the-dark thread. The buildings have some signs hand embroidered in neon thread.  And the back of the quilt has some words of advice about cat houses. Cathy L in IA Cat Houses blogged at Sane, Crazy, Crumby...

Show and tell

Here are a couple more Charity tops one has the Basket Block…I made some extra ones to go with the Duds/Orphans one I received, the other top uses a chevron I made to go with other left overs…keep in mind, sewing is new to me so there are probably zillions of mistakes. Just thought you might like to see what bits and pieces…even unrelated ones can do even for beginners! ( I am allergic to house work so if you see any dust...

December Block

December Block

Another one I had made before – a fun block.  It was a block of the month for our Guild and I won a set. This is my China shelves. I simplified the block a bit and used a whole white square in the center so I could quilt an N in each of the centers.  I made it quilt as I go. Here’s the N in the block.   I like Sophie’s version.   Angie in...

It’s Incredible (that I finished it!)

It’s Incredible (that I finished it!)

I have STARTED a lot of sampler quilts made from lotto blocks … but most are still unfinished and only one was finished in the same year as we made the blocks.     The lighting is less than optimal–I slid the stand under one of the skylights in the studio … just as I was losing the light. This is the Full/Queen-size with 7-inch plain borders for a finished size of 96-inches square. Here’s a close up of the...

I just realized

I just realized

I just realized a pattern I used back a while is a variation of this month’s block.  This quilt was made with this block, but it’s a scrapppy version.  We were trying to get members to try applique.  The pattern can be seen here.     [Edited by Sophie to include a photo of the block, so you can see the “X” … because I couldn’t. ] I think it’s a brilliant idea. Wouldn’t it make a great...

Stripes quilt

Stripes quilt

I tried taking a photo of the Stripes quilt outside but it was breezy. I’m making this for my brother Dave who is soon moving to NM. I had given him the Oak Leaf quilt but I took it back because I couldn’t bear to have it so far away among other reasons. Blue & white are my hometown school colors and I think he’ll like this...

A finished quilt

A finished quilt

I’ve finally finished a quilt made from the house blocks I won a while back.  I designed a center panel and did some raw-edge applique and arranged the houses all around it.  Note the quilt shop is conveniently located next to the bank on the left side. ...

Baby Quilt with Sunshine Blocks

Baby Quilt with Sunshine Blocks

Just finished quilt top using the sunshine blocks I got last month. Very simple design with the panel in the middle and using the blocks as a border, but I think it’s cute for a baby quilt. Thanks again for all the lovely blocks. And if you dont see your block in the quilt it’s because I have 6 left that I will be turning them into throw...

Then and Now – Carol’s Asterisk Quilt

Then and Now – Carol’s Asterisk Quilt

Seeing some of the Spokes block on my blog prompted Carol to send me a photo the quilt she made from the liberated variation of this block which she won 4 years ago.     I called that block Fireworks because of our color way that month.  The width of the inserted fabric and the angle of the cuts across the background were each quilter’s choice for a liberated result.  This kind of setting would work well for this month’s...
