An old lotto block, revisited

An old lotto block, revisited

I completely fell in love with the March 2011 block.  I even made a pile for the lotto, despite not being the world’s biggest red & white quilt fan.  But I really saw it as a vehicle for won’t-work-anyhere-else fabrics such as my favorite french country chickens.  Anyhow, the quilt is made & I thought maybe the other lotto-ites would like to see….?  It is also my entry in the current Blogger’s Quilt...

Curved Rail Quilt and Silly String Blocks

Curved Rail Quilt and Silly String Blocks

Hi fellow quilters. Thank you for sending your blocks so promptly.  I will be on holidays for the next 3 weeks, but will stay in contact with those at home and hopefully be able to post the arrivals as soon as possible.   I can’t wait to see your blocks and begin to play with possible designs. Here is the finished results from my winning month last fall. The rails are complete, hand quilted and ready to use. I simply LOVE the final...

Flying Geese

The last time I won the lotto was a few years ago and I won these beautiful flying geese blocks.  I put the top together as soon as I received all my blocks but didn’t quilt it until today....

Quilted!

Quilted!

I’ve just had this quilt back from the longarmer last week – some of you will recognise these lotto blocks!  I haven’t yet had a chance to do the binding, but I will get to it this summer – though perhaps not in the next week or so as the forecast is for really warm weather and I’m not sure I want it on my lap if that’s true. It will be a wedding present for a  friend, if he ever sets a...

Finished Quilt!

Finished Quilt!

Hot Cross 9 Patch Quilt

Hot Cross 9 Patch Quilt

I loved this block when we did it for the Lotto.  I made my brother and his wife a quilt using the pattern out of denim jeans and plaid shirts. It measures about 72″ X 84″. We are going to Alaska in two weeks, and I am sending it ahead to be there when we get there. ** Caroline...

April blocks flimsy

April blocks flimsy

I’ve used half of the blocks that I won in April to make this. I’d like to make it slightly bigger by adding a border but am a little stuck trying to decide what the border should look like. All of the sashing is made from striped shirting fabric – white background with a charcoal gray pinstripe. I thought about a plaid border or one made up of white and plaid blocks. Any...

Kathy’s Parade-Ready Quilt

Kathy’s Parade-Ready Quilt

When I saw Kathy’s Eclipse quilt (made from her January winnings) on her blog, Kathy’s Quilting Blog, Ijust had ask for permission to re-post it here. I also asked if I could crop it so that it would fill the slider on the home page.  Her son is sitting on the quilt, spread on the sidewalk, waiting for the parade to begin.   It looks great in the sunshine doesn’t it?  And isn’t he...

HST quilt

HST quilt

Well I’ve finally finished up a baby-sized quilt using some of the HST blocks I won in March.  I bound it in mint green with white polka dots, AND this was my very first free-motion-quilting project.  I’m very pleased with the result. I had lots of these blocks left and made a bunch more so I can make a double or queen sized quilt next.  Think I’d get that one professionally quilted though, my little machine would not handle...
