3 for August

3 for August

These were great fun and quick to make. I actually made some more for my own stash, but I’m only putting 3 into the draw this month (postage is so high these days, sigh).  It was a great way to use this piece of black and white batik, as well – I had a few long, narrow strips (offcuts from using it as quilt backing) so it was the perfect purpose for...

3 spokes

3 spokes

As is often the case, I made some lotto blocks before the sneak peek deadline, and of course forgot to post them to this blog until afterwards…  Doesn’t matter, though, they are here, and will be counted! I had fun with this block, and actually, have made some more in a red & white colourway to add to my ever-growing stash of block sets, which will eventually be turned into charity quilt tops for Project Linus.  Another...

6 for May

6 for May

Here are 6 blue blocks for May.  The bottom right hand one is light, but not nearly so light as in the photo. Photos are funny things!  I’ll donate my chances this month, but this is definitely a block to look at...

Blocks mailed

My blocks went off today to Mariella and Elizabeth. I wrote two short notes to enclose with the blocks, and once everything was all parcelled up and ready to go (and sealed) noticed that one of the notes was still on the counter, so apologies in advance to whichever of you gets the envelope without the note in it!

Double Chevrons…

Double Chevrons…

I put this together today from the chevrons I received from my January win.  I played around a lot with these (for me) and finally decided on a layout like this one above. This meant there were 4 blocks I couldn’t use, but those 4 will go in my orphan bag to go to Project Linus so something happy will happen to them at some point – if you sent me a block and don’t see it here, that’s where it went – I based...

8 April blocks

8 April blocks

Here are 8 blocks for this month’s lotto, but I am donating my chances as I need to take care of blocks I already have. Plus, I made some more of these for myself from other fabrics anyway, lol. I made these by method 2 (joining the colours first) and I made the ones for myself by method 1 (making 4 no waste FG and attaching to HST units). I found that I prefered method 2 in terms of easiness, but method 1 was easier to be...

Been thinking about the Lotto

Been thinking about the Lotto

With some of the discussion about the lotto lately, and with going back and re-reading Sophie’s excellent guide to All Things Lotto, I was thinking about the Lotto and my involvement in it, and thought I’d share a little of that history for anyone who might be interested (the rest of you can skip this message, lol). When I first joined the Block Lotto, it was hosted on about.com, and known as the Beginner Block Lotto – it had...

One block for the pot

One block for the pot

Well, I guess it’s been that kind of month – I actually managed to make two blocks, but on the other one, I put half the “light” fabric in back to front.  It looks fine back to front, so if I’d managed to put ALL of it in that way, we’d be good, but as I only managed to do it with half of the fabric, it just looks like two different “lights”.  Oh well – guess I’ll just have to...

Almost all of them here!

Blocks in today from Caroline (told you they’d come today, Caroline!) and Marybeth.  Along with the blocks from Sophie and Julie, which arrived recently and which I acknowledged privately as I was emailing those ladies about other stuff anyway, that’s all of them except one set. Of course, once they are all here, I shall start feeling obliged to do something with them!

More blocks in

Blocks in recently from Vivi, Jude and Nann – thanks!  It’s a nice selection. Nann, just wanted to say that first of all, I don’t know what RCTQ is, so I don’t think you know me from there -but I’ve been here for years, so maybe you recognise me from here!  Also, I know you paid a lot of postage on your package, and I’m not sure why – according to the US Post Office website, given the weight of your...

Blocks received

Two sets of blocks in already (both from the UK, of course!) – thanks to Jo in Aberdeen and Celine for their chevrons. So far I have 1 brown, 1 grey and 4 purple (plus what I made myself) – wonder how the colours will break down in the end – might be a challenge to put them together!
