Double Chevrons…

Double Chevrons…

I put this together today from the chevrons I received from my January win.  I played around a lot with these (for me) and finally decided on a layout like this one above. This meant there were 4 blocks I couldn’t use, but those 4 will go in my orphan bag to go to Project Linus so something happy will happen to them at some point – if you sent me a block and don’t see it here, that’s where it went – I based...

BL inspired stripes quilt

BL inspired stripes quilt

In December when Sophie revealed the “stripes” block, I realized this was perfect for a jelly roll originally bought on sale at Tuesday morning that had been languishing in my sewing room.  Generous as ever, Sophie helped me resize the block.        ...

Quilt top from Chevron blocks

Quilt top from Chevron blocks

I have finished the quilt top from the wonderful blocks I won!!!!  They were so perfect and easy to work with and I have some left for another project.  This top will be finished and as I have posted before will be given to the church auction.  Some of the money from the action supports our Quilt Ministry. Thank you to Sophie and everyone for this great...

a finished top!

a finished top!

These were (mostly) winnings from a couple of years ago, I think.  It’s going off to be long-armed tomorrow!  I added a few more blocks and some giant borders to make this big enough for a very tall young man who’s (we hope) going to graduate from high school this spring. He is the son of friends and I’ve known him since before he was born… Julie...

Scrappy trip around the world completed

Scrappy trip around the world completed

Finally another quilt completed.  One of my granddaughters thought it was the best quilt I have made.   I love the bright colours and the scrappiness of it. I have started making the first of two quilts out of the ships I won last year although don’t think they will be finished for awhile as I have so many projects on the go at the moment.  Good to get one completed...

Finally

Finally

Not a masterpiece by any account. I won these blocks from the August 2012 Block Lotto and finally had the courage to finish it. Quilting is my problem. I decided to do the quilting myself. I call it my FMQ Sampler. If you want to read more: http://christa-feelingblessed.blogspot.com/2014/03/one-ufo-done.html I learned a lot! Thanks to you all! Christa in Virginia...

Some flimsey Stripes quilts

Some flimsey Stripes quilts

With my recent winnings of the Stripes blocks, I quickly put together a top.  I added another 3 inches of white to the blocks and then set them together with a slight offset.  I like the effect so much that I used some stash fabric to make a second quilt along the same lines.  I think both will be easily quilted with some straight line quilting, when I get the chance.  Thanks, Sophie, for a very clean, graphic block to work with. Finished my Stripey “Flimsy” Quilt Top

Finished my Stripey “Flimsy” Quilt Top

This is how I used my “Stripe” blocks. By adding 4 of my own, I had enough for the “en pointe” setting. My daughter fell in love with it, so it will be her birthday present in May. My border is a new Carolyn Friedlander fabric; I had won a “giveaway” of her fabrics in a mini-charm pack and that led to a yardage of this fabric, which I think is perfect. Now it will go to my long-armer for her magic...

my first try at free motion quilting

my first try at free motion quilting

This is a work in progress shot of my “mini” quilt (about 24×18) for our Guild’s mini quilt auction in March benefitting the Children’s Craniofacial Foundation. I used Sophie’s birds and added hearts to make “Love Birds.” I have a book that shows sort of modern patterns for free motion quilting, and I used the basic swirl pattern along with a lot of echoing the patterns.  The first hour or two were...

Tall Stars Quilt Finish

Tall Stars Quilt Finish

72 x 90 I squared up the blocks to 9 inches, added a few Tall Ship blocks and the words “Don’t set sail on someone else’s star”. I have more photos and details on my blog post today. Thanks ,everyone, for the lotto winnings! One of my grandkids will get this quilt when they graduate from high school. That will be a while so into the hope chest it goes. Sane, Crazy, Crumby Quilting...
